THE CLIENT
Ionas Stroumsas, with its headquarters in Thessaloniki, was founded in 1959 and has since enjoyed steady growth. Employing approximately 100 people, Stroumsas is one of the leading pharmaceutical enterprises in Greece, dealing mainly with the distribution of pharmaceutical and medical products. The in-house call centre is manned by 25 employees, 6 days a week (Monday - Saturday) who deal with telephone orders; a further 50 people are involved with van deliveries to pharmacies and linics
in Thessaloniki itself and in northern Greece.
THE TASK
Especially in the pharmaceutical business, speed plays a vital role. "The faster the better" is the motto. In order to guarantee the fast and reliable delivery of the widest range of products, it was therefore necessary to construct a new central distribution warehouse to cater for the ever-growing demands made of such a facility. To realize this mammoth project, Ionas Stroumsas placed its trust in the solution provider, KNAPP, which produced an ingenious concept for the creation of a 4,500 m2 warehouse, integrating some of world's most cuttingedge processing technology.
THE SOLUTION
At Ionas Stroumsas, KNAPP once again proved its planning competence and efficient realization strategies. Precise, reliable, low-maintenance and of high quality – these features were of as much importance as a comprehensive after-sales programme. Optimal ergonomics and user guidance were the main design objectives of the picking stations.
