Curiosity, enthusiasm and a delight in all things IT is a description that fits well? For our colleague Haris, it hits the nail on the head. In this interview, he tells us why the job software support engineer is such a perfect fit.
What are your main responsibilities?
When our customers around the globe need help, they can call our hotline at any time, which is now part of the Service Desk. If these requests for support involve a software issue, it is given to me and my colleagues. Software is a major component in every warehouse because it controls the system as well as every subsystem, so the cases I work on are incredibly different and very exciting. Of course there are stressful times too, but they are not too bad because I can always rely on help from my colleagues, which is incredibly valuable to me.
What kind of education, experience or interests should you have for your job?
The fundamentals in IT are very important, especially experience in Linux and SQL. A solution-oriented approach is very important because you are always confronted with new challenges. That’s why you also need initiative, reliability and the ability to work in a team.

What part of your job do you find especially fun?
The thing that challenges me the most just also happens to be the thing that I find most fun in my job. It is quite fulfilling to face a new challenge and find an innovative solution for it. Here I can give my creativity free rein because not every solution is simply at the tip of my fingers. I have the chance to learn something new every day and to expand my horizons, which I find is truly satisfying.
