What are your
main responsibilities?

Controls commissioning engineers are installation technicians responsible for the PLC and automation and control technologies of our intralogistics systems. As a team leader in Controls Commissioning, I have a wide variety of responsibilities. On the technical side of things, project controlling involves a lot of coordination with Project Management as well as with the customer. For example, I make status calls with the team that is preparing the programs and testing them in the digital twin, as well as with the onsite team who are busy with startup. I am responsible for keeping deadlines, providing quality and staying within budget, as well as for planning new projects with my team and supervising personnel.

What kind of education, experience or interests should you have for your job?

Technical qualifications with a focus on control systems are important. Experience in the project business is also advantageous. In general, you have to know the basics of electrics, how a PLC works and what you can do with it. Team spirit and open communication also contribute to success. I myself did an apprenticeship in electrical installations engineering. Once finished, I wanted to further develop my skills and found a job at KNAPP.

My Job:

Dynamic. Innovative. Collaborative.

What do you like most about your job?

I started out as a Controls Commissioning Engineer at KNAPP, working all around the globe for several years. I not only traveled to many European countries, but also to China, South Africa, South America and the US. After that, I became Team Leader of Controls Commissioning. Working with my team is very fulfilling for me. I know from personal experience what kinds of challenges can arise when starting up a system, so I understand my employees very well. I’m happy to pass on my knowledge and support my employees on their professional journey.

Why do you enjoy working for KNAPP?

KNAPP helps their employees grow. As an employee, you get the chance to demonstrate your skills and grow professionally as well as personally. I enjoy working for KNAPP because it is a stable company. Despite the size and level of internationality of the company, the work atmosphere is still very friendly and personal, and our team spirit is strong. I appreciate the liberty I have to organize most of my work independently.
