Melanie is a Scheduling Commissioning Project Planner
You can find out what Melanie’s job involves, what makes it so enjoyable and why she is so glad to work at KNAPP right here!

What are your main
responsibilities?
In my department, we accompany logistics projects from the initial engineering phase to the handover to the commissioning departments, which send the commissioning engineers to the customer site. My tasks include schedule coordination, time estimations, creating detailed plans, coordination meetings with other departments to evaluate the feasibility of projects, and technical inspection of warehouse layouts and other features. I spend most of my time with scheduling and planning in the Asta project management software. Other important tasks are project estimations and meetings to coordinate the deliveries of parts and CPUs. Besides the Asta program, I work with another MPM (multi project management) and planning tool.
What kind of education, experience or interests should you have for your job?
Technical understanding of PLC programming and software development is definitely a plus. Communication skills are important as we work together and exchange our ideas with various departments. Spatial thinking skills help to envision and assess the go-live of a warehouse based on layouts. A technical education and experience in commissioning are useful to understand the implicated processes and their technical feasibility. My career path, however, started a bit differently: After graduating from a secondary business school, I studied English and media science.
My job:
Responsible. Challenging. Creative.
What do you like most about your job?
We collaborate with many departments and support projects right from the planning phase until their handover. The job offers a variety of tasks and never gets boring as each project is different and you always learn something new. Thanks to our team spirit, we have a great work atmosphere. I basically started with zero technical knowledge as my background is in the humanities. I’ve learned a lot about project planning and I’m still learning more. We collaborate effectively in our well-rounded team and have lots of fun together.
Why do you enjoy working for KNAPP?
There are many reasons: I like the various benefits and the way the employees’ wishes and needs are recognized. As a large group, KNAPP provides job security and stability. And the food in our company cafeteria, the KNAPPcafé and the comprehensive KNAPPvital program are outstanding. KNAPP promotes the use of public transport by offering the Klimaticket, an annual public transportation ticket. What I appreciate the most are the flexible working hours and the option to work from home.
