With the reopening of the SAP Experience Center in New York City, SAP and KNAPP boldly demonstrate where the future of the digital supply chain is headed. Visitors to the center can experience the award-winning AeroBot system in interplay with the KNAPP AeroBot App and see for themselves how intelligent automation and SAP® software work together in a realistic setting for retail and fashion.
KNAPP AeroBot and SAP BTP live demo for fashion retail processes
Making software and what it does tangible to people is challenging, which is why SAP works with their partners at the Experience Centers. These are located around the world and offer a series of interactive showcases, real-world applications and ready-to-operate demos on site, virtually or in hybrid meetings, demonstrating the interplay between software and smart solutions firsthand. As a longtime SAP partner, KNAPP is unveiling a use case featuring the AeroBot system in the reopened SAP showroom in New York City. Integrated in the local SAP® system landscape, the KNAPP AeroBot App was developed on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) and, as part of the exhibit, demonstrates advanced logistics solutions for the fashion retail store of the future.
“High above the New York skyline, AeroBot at the SAP Experience Center demonstrates how powerful automation works – even where you don’t expect it. We are preparing logistics processes for the future with maximum storage density combined with smart technologies,” explains Heimo Robosch, EVP Sales, KNAPP.
The KNAPP AeroBot showcase integrated via SAP BTP for smart processes
What is special about the KNAPP use case? Viewers experience more than just a live technology; they experience a solution that addresses the challenges they face. With snowballing demand, a conventional warehouse reaches its performance limits due to a lack of up-to-the-minute information, inefficient space utilization and low flexibility. The AeroBot system sails over these hurdles with true 3D mobility, modular scalability and stand-alone robots that work in parallel. Visitors can experience how to expand warehouse capacity dynamically, using space efficiently in all dimensions, while also significantly increasing throughput.
The exhibit showcases how automation and intelligent process control are seamlessly integrated: SAP orders are fulfilled in real time by flexible warehouse robots. Through the SAP® Fiori dashboards, guests can follow along as storage and picking processes – made transparent – are efficiently orchestrated. In the background, the KNAPP AeroBot App is controlling all the necessary processes. Developed on SAP BTP, it connects the KiSoft machine control system of the AeroBot system with the SAP® system in the Experience Center. Thanks to standardized SAP® interfaces (API), integration is achieved with little intrusion and low risk to operations.
Companies can profit from this end-to-end solution consisting of AeroBot and the KNAPP AeroBot App, as well as from maximum storage density, reducing their costs for space and gaining the flexibility to adapt to market fluctuations – all with continuous high service quality. Interested companies can find out what the system can offer them by making an appointment for a demonstration at the SAP Experience Center in New York City. At the SAP Experience Center in Munich, companies can also view a live use case featuring the KNAPP InduStore.
